Wake Technical Community College Foundation Scholarships
Scholarships and grants -- money that does not have to be repaid -- are naturally the most sought-after type of assistance. Scholarships are provided through Wake Technical Community College's Foundation and the generosity of industries, businesses, professional organizations, civic clubs, and individuals. The scholarship selection committee determines the recipient for those scholarships awarded by the College.
The scholarship program consists of two kinds of awards: merit-based scholarships and need-based scholarships. Scholarships are also awarded on a competitive basis applying the following criteria: academic excellence, achievement, leadership qualities, need or other criteria as stipulated by the donor.
Awards are usually restricted to tuition assistance and require the recipient to maintain a minimum GPA to continue the scholarship. Each scholarship is awarded for one academic year beginning with the Fall Semester. Students must reapply each year.

Outside Scholarships
Many organizations offer awards based on place of residence, background, professional affiliations and/or field of study. Students should search and apply for outside scholarships independently. There are many free online scholarships search sites. In addition, book listings are available in bookstores and libraries.
If you are awarded an outside scholarship you should provide a copy of the award notice to the Financial Aid Office to ensure that funds are available in a timely manner. Scholarship checks from outside donors should be sent to:

Scholarship funds will be equally divided between the fall and spring semesters, unless otherwise requested by the scholarship donor or indicated as a single semester disbursement.
You will generally have access to your funds within 48 hours to charge tuition and fees and/or purchase books and supplies in the Campus Bookstore. Organizations often contact the Financial Aid Office for potential scholarship recipients. This information is posted on Web Advisor as it becomes available.
